Lonny Office Lust

While flipping through the latest issue of Lonny Mag, I couldn't help but feel a bit envious of Editor in Chief Michelle Adams' newly renovated office. It looks like such a comfortable and inviting space, with lots of practical but concealed storage. Sigh.

Perhaps I should have an office makeover of my own. Hmmm... All in good time my friends, all in good time...

Kelly Wearstler Style

Some days I love Kelly Wearstler's design style, and some days I'm just not feeling it. Today is a good day, and I'm loving the chic LA office space of Kelly Wearstler Interior Design. Check out these images from the March/April issue of Lonny magazine:

The office entryway welcomes guest to KWID.
Love the custom marble floors!

The office space is open, with high ceilings and lots of light.

Each table contains several inspiration trays, where
Kelly collects ideas for ongoing projects.

The orange board room features a vintage chandelier.
The armoire and chairs are Kelly's designs.

Kelly also designs a collection of objects for
Bergdorf Goodman. How cool are the
sputnik sculptural pieces?

What do you think of the KWID office space?

Dining in The Home Office

Since I write most of my blog entries at home, and since I've been writing Cherish Toronto from my couch for more than a year, the plan was to put a small console style desk in the corner of my living room. Well, finding just the right piece of furniture isn't that easy, and I'm still hunting for a desk or console table which meets the following criteria:
  • Must be 60" wide or less
  • Must be 30" high
  • Must be no more than 18" deep
  • Must be white
  • Must have at least one drawer
  • Must be under $300
In the meantime, I have made the kitchen table into a temporary home office. I don't actually eat at the table that often, so I've decided that the best use of the space is to occupy one end of the table and the console top as Cherish headquarters:

The live/work concept still allows plenty of space at the opposite end for a single girl to enjoy a meal:

On rare occasions when guests arrive for dinner, I can just whisk away the tray of office supplies:

The console holds magazines and reference materials as well as the printer and extra supplies:

Now I can truthfully say the I make use of my kitchen on a daily basis!!

Simple Office Makeover

There's nothing like a fresh coat of paint to breathe life into a tired old space. Take this simple office makeover, for example. We just needed to spruce it up a bit, so we edited, organized, painted and papered for a new look that can be achieved in just a few days.

BEFORE
Basic Office Blah.

AFTER
It's like a whole new office!

First we planned the new layout

Next we selected paint and wallpaper from Home Depot.
Paint colour: BEHR Gentle Rain.

We patched, sanded and painted the walls on Friday, wallpaper went up on Monday and the racking systems were mounted on Tuesday. A three day project gave us a fresh new space!! How simple is that?
