Simple Office Makeover

There's nothing like a fresh coat of paint to breathe life into a tired old space. Take this simple office makeover, for example. We just needed to spruce it up a bit, so we edited, organized, painted and papered for a new look that can be achieved in just a few days.

BEFORE
Basic Office Blah.

AFTER
It's like a whole new office!

First we planned the new layout

Next we selected paint and wallpaper from Home Depot.
Paint colour: BEHR Gentle Rain.

We patched, sanded and painted the walls on Friday, wallpaper went up on Monday and the racking systems were mounted on Tuesday. A three day project gave us a fresh new space!! How simple is that?

Vintage Toronto Sketches

I know I'm constantly going on about all the great deals to be found at Value Village, but I should let you know that The Salvation Army thrift stores can be equally as fruitful. Just last month I found this pair of vintage ink sketches featuring popular Toronto landmarks St. Lawrence Hall and "New" City Hall. Considering the age of the automobiles in the renderings and that fact that "New" City Hall opened in 1965, I estimate these sketches to be about 40 years old.

I had the basic pale wood frames replaced with modern black ones and had the sketches mounted with double mats in charcoal and black. Now these sketches hang proudly in my home, a little bit vintage, a little bit modern, and a lot Toronto.

Sarah Richardson's Holiday Party

Since I don't subscribe to the fancy cable package that includes HGTV (Rogers, please lower your prices!!), I missed the first airing of Sarah's Holiday Party, but in case you also missed it, the episode will air again on December 13th at 2pm & 7pm. It's sure to be entertaining and full of great tips, since Sarah never disappoints.

Cherish Toronto Plans a Getaway

There are some cities that make such a good impression that you just want to return again and again. For me, New York City is one of those places, and I've just scheduled a short trip for January - this will be my sixth visit. There's something about the island of Manhattan that keeps me coming back. It may have something to do with the incredible shopping, and I've already started a list of stores and boutiques to visit while I'm there:
