Getting Outta Dodge

Since my condominium lies on the edge of the G20 security zone, I'm getting out of town this weekend. Hopefully all will be well here in Toronto!!

Quiet Commerce Court North

Think you can't find a quiet, peaceful place in the heart of Toronto? Think again! Next time you're downtown, take a stroll through the financial district, and tucked in behind Commerce Court North at King and Bay, you'll find a magical place. A huge granite fountain in the courtyard creates the feeling that you're miles away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a great place to enjoy an outdoor lunch, and it's completely deserted on weekends!!

Not a soul in sight...

The historic Commerce Court North building was built in 1930-31, and was designed by Canadian architectural firm Darling & Pearson. Enjoy your visit!

Toronto Fabric Sources

As each episode of Sarah's House aired on HGTV Canada, I wrote weekly posts to keep readers up to date on what was happening with the renovation of the farmhouse. Most of the comments received on the blog have been from readers looking for the names of fabrics used as draperies. For this renovation, Sarah and Tommy chose many fabrics available strictly to the trade, which means we can't get our hands on them without a designer.

Although I can't provide answers to all of the questions asked by readers, these are two of my favourite retail fabric sources in the Toronto area. Chances are if you've seen something you like on HGTV, you'll be able to find a comparable fabric here:

Do you have any fabulous GTA fabric sources to share? If so, share your secrets!!

Good luck fabric hunters!!!

Wheat Sheaf on The Wall

Remember the brass wheat sheaf sconce I bought on ebay a few weeks ago? It's now up on the wall of my condo, just above the entry table. The candle bases and hanging crystals were a modified version of the original piece, so when I discovered that they could be removed, I opted for a more simple look:

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, my real job keeps me very, very busy during the summer months. I'll do my best to post as often as possible!!
