Highlights of IDS: Fave Booths to Visit

Obviously, these highlights are strictly my opinion, but if I were you, I wouldn't want to miss any of these booths. Toronto's Interior Design show is massive, filling the entire upper floor of the North Convention Centre, and it took four hours of walking to cover it all. If you find your energy waning, at least try to make it to these show highlights:

Such a comfortable and bright space to unwind!!

I wish I had more information about this amazing small
space, which includes areas for entertaining, eating,
sleeping, and bathing - all within 480 square feet!!

Yes - that is a framed television screen above the bed.
When not in use, it looks like a mirror - so cool!!

LOOOOVE this unique backsplash!!!!

You can't miss the Andrew Richard Designs booth at the
centre of the show floor. No, really, it's impossible to
miss the bright, fresh and happy colour palette
of this year's outdoor furniture collection.

I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Richard at Thursday's
media preview. He told me that the inspiration for the
entire colour palette came from a single striped fabric.
Great collection, Andrew!!

Last, but certainly not least, the Elte booth is a must see!!
It's beyond gorgeous, full of inspiration, and the
recycled Saree rugs are the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Can you say OMG over and over again until your mind
explodes? These recycled saree rugs have pretty much
the same effect. I just can't get over these beauties!!

If you hurry, you can still head down to IDS this afternoon at the Metro Convention Centre (north building). If I were you I would run there now!!

IDS 2011: The Great Canadian Outdoors

There are few things Canadians look forward to more than the warmth of spring and summer weather. Like eager butterflies, the moment the snow melts, we emerge from our cocoons and flock to backyards and cottages. No longer content to kick back on the deck in folding aluminum chairs, home owners seek a comfortably furnished outdoor space to relax.

I found two outdoor furniture companies at IDS 11, each on opposite ends of the affordability scale. For those with a healthy budget, and who want investment pieces that will last a lifetime, Andrew Richard Designs has an amazing selection of high quality pieces. A more affordable option is the stylish new Sung Outdoor line of outdoor furniture available at The Bay.

IDS 2010: Big Impact Booths

This year approximately 300 exhibitors occupied the North building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Front Street for the Toronto Interior Design Show. Here is an overview of the show floor:

All of the booths were well presented, but the real showstoppers were the central exhibitors, Ikea and Andrew Richard Designs, who made a big impact with large, double-sided displays:

Ikea won the Gold Award for booth design in its size category.
Key words: White, Bright, Clean & Uncluttered.

On the East Side: Media & Storage
Trend: Glamorous Glossy Finish Cabinetry

On the West Side: Kitchen Innovations
Trend: High Gloss Grey Cabinet Doors

Trend: Warm Copper Effect Cabinet Doors

This booth made me long for the return of summer.
Key words: Luxury, Retreat & Inside Out

On the East Side: City Chic Small Spaces
Trend: Organic Modern

On the West Side: Poolside Retreat
Trend: Bring the Inside Outside

It's not all about the big guys, these exhibitors also had eye catching booth design:

Weaver's Art

The large central flower arrangement was
just as gorgeous as the surrounding area rugs.

The metal trellis pattern glowed from within.
Very eye catching!!
