IDS 2012: ONEXONE Cherish Auction

The Interior Design Show (IDS) Opening Night Party is happening this Thursday, January 26th from 7-11 pm, and tickets are still available - do you have yours yet? As part of the evening's festivities, IDS will be hosting the Cherish Auction (no affiliation), where attendees will have the opportunity to bid on 20 Julian children's chairs, manufactured by Magis, and re-imagined by talented designers. 100% of proceeds from the auction will be donated to ONEXONE children's foundation.

These re-designed children's chairs are so whimsical!!

For those of you not familiar with ONEXONE, the organization's mantra is "Hope is for Everyone". Through charitable donations, ONEXONE works in partnership with local organizations in places like Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Haiti, as well as both Canada and the United States. The goal of ONEXONE is to ensure each and every child has access to clean water, education, medical care, food and play. If you don't have the opportunity to attend Thursday's event and would like to support ONEXONE, you can help by purchasing an item at their online store or by making a general donation.

A big "thank you" to all of the designers who contributed their time and effort in support of the Cherish Auction:

CB2 Opening Preview Party

They're here!!! CB2 held a preview party this evening for media, industry insiders, twitter followers and facebook friends. It was quite a crowd!! Canadians welcomed the retailer with open arms, and if tonight's turnout is any indication, CB2 will enjoy the benefits of this new relationship.

CB2
651 Queen Street West
Toronto, Ontario

I took as many photos as I could, but with so many people in attendance it was hard to get a clear shot of the fabulous furnishings and accessories. I will definitely have to make a trip back to the store soon to get a closer look. This post features some of the cool items I spotted.

These Swirl Sculptures are very industrial and dramatic:

This set of 3 lavender sachets smelled like heaven:

How cool are these Ous hanging tealight holders,
made from hammered brass:

The geometric shapes of the Coup pillow pair
beautifully with the curvy patterns of the Lasso pillow:

These Cage brass pendants were my fave!!

What a fun Relax bedroom vignette
featuring the white Andes bed:

The lines of this Club Piping chair are just as linear
as the 3.14 storage bookcase behind.

The Saga Credenza works as a media center in the
living room and the Yield coffee table wheels away
when it's time to break out the Xbox Kinect.

These shallow, space saving Tesso bookcases
mount directly onto the wall.

Aren't these 15 minute glass timers so whimsical
when filled with chartreuse sand?

How about this Chartreuse TPS File Cabinet &
Bubble Leather Office Chair?

Decorative Grasses & Feathers tuck nicely into the corner.

These Glass Terrariums are so dainty,
used here as bird feeders.

Everything in its place with multiple storage solutions:
coat rack, 3+3 organizer, format shelves,
wall magazine rack and el shelves

Isn't this the coolest cuckoo clock you've ever seen?

This Cloud 16 lounge chair has a Scandinavian vibe:

This Julius sofa is hiding a secret - a full length twin bed.

A salute to recent history:

2012 Outdoor Fabrics: Kravet Soleil Lifestyles

New outdoor fabrics from Kravet Soleil Lifestyles are now available, and the patterns are so pretty that you'll be tempted to use them indoors as well (and why not?). Developed to withstand the elements of nature, these fabrics are resistant to the sun, and are extremely durable.

Kravet has worked with Echo Design to produce the Caneel Bay collection, a group of fabrics designed for a modern time, but with a classic sensibility.

"The vivid color palettes of sky blues, lime greens,
rich oranges and sophisticated
neutrals conjure up
the feelings
of a modern marketplace, where
bold stripes, intricate textures and beautiful
patterns coexist in harmony.
"

Created by designer Windsor Smith, the Tahitian Holiday collection features modern and graphic patterns in combination with coordinating plains, inspired by Windsor's travels:

"The vibrant and fresh color palettes of brilliant
greens, orchid pinks, ocean blues, sunny yellows
and strong neutrals, evokes a beach paradise
where surf, sun and sand meet.
"
