Sculptural Wonders

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City houses one of the most extensive collections of Greek and Roman art in North America. Many of the marble statues are housed in the beautifully designed Mary & Michael Jaharis Gallery, where the barrel-vaulted ceilings bathe the sculptural wonders in natural light. Behind this hall, the Leon Levy & Shelby White Court features a central fountain and skylit ceiling, which invokes the feeling of entering an outdoor garden.

In a central section of the museum, with windows overlooking Central Park, the Carroll & Milton Petrie Court houses French and Italian sculptures, and was designed to resemble a classical French garden. This court incorporates the 1888 facade and carriage entrance to the museum.

  1. If you noticed a ton of page loads yesterday, that was me! i found your site through a comment you made on Shopsterium. (I started from Jan 2009, and couldn't stop flipping through the first couple months)

I bought my downtown condo 2 and a half years ago and spent 8 months decorating it, watching HGTV 4 hours a day and going to every shop within the vicinity over and over and over again - I loved it! So it's great to find your blog, which is local, and about one of my favorite things. And the name 'Cherish Toronto' already got my attention.
