Bedding at The Bay Flagship

Searching for new bed linens? You may be pleasantly surprised to see what The Bay has to offer. I visited the Toronto flagship store on Sunday afternoon, and I was impressed with the improvement in selection, service and overall presentation throughout the bedding department. Check this out: The sales staff were attentive and friendly, displays were pristine, and the linens were very well organized. Thank you, Bonnie Brooks and team!

I'm about to share a little secret with you: One of the best things about shopping at The Bay downtown at Queen & Yonge is pausing for refreshment at the City View Cafe on the 8th floor. To get there, take the west set of escalators up as far as the seventh floor, pass through the carpet department and then ascend one final escalator to the 8th floor cafe. I learned of City View while working at Simpson's during my college co-op, and although the weekdays see a steady stream of store employees, you can always get a window seat with a view on weekends:

  1. How I miss dropping by that cafe! I lived at bay and gerrard and went by often! I meant it when I said I'm totally smitten with your blog. :)

  3. Thanks for the awesome tip on the cafe at the Bay! I used to spend a lot of time at that store and I'll check it out the next time I'm in Toronto.
Glad to hear that the Bay store downtown is cleaning up and looking good - the store in my city is, as my mother described it, "Where the Bay went to die" - it's in really bad shape.
I also went to the Bay and Sears at the Rideau Centre in Ottawa this weekend looking for linens, but came across the usual scene in department stores - nothing is really displayed, the racks are nearly bare, there is never a full set of anything and the sales people are nowhere to be found. It always feels like looting a destroyed city when I go there.

  5. Distinctly Home bed linens looks pretty but have an odor from hell!! I always thought 100% cotton was environmentally friendly but there is something in the bedding to make it very plasticized feeling and hold a distinct odor. I have bought three different patterns and cannot even wash out the smell. Cotton of old always softened up after a few washes that was the joy of the material.

  6. Wow, that's too bad. It's true that cotton sheets usually become softer and more luxurious after a few washes. Have you tried soaking those sheets in vinegar to help eliminate the bad odour? It may help, good luck!!
